1968 Mercury Cougar Coupe XR7 Beautifully restored for Sale

Beautifully restored original California rust free XR7.

Complete High quality paint and body work. Car was disassembled and each part was re-painted. No rust was found. Car was in very good condition before bodywork with only 1 minor dent and 50 years worth of door dings. Professionally re-assembled very straight lines. Black pinstripe was also

re-done. All original chrome was removed and professionally polished. That was expensive Original VIN number matching J code engine was completely rebuilt and balanced by Rescino Performance in San Francisco.A mild Isky cam was installed. See photo for specs.

Intake and exhaust were ported and polished. Interior is original and in very good condition. Some cracking in the vinyl on the drivers seat and top of back seat. It is a factory Air Conditioned car. The air conditioning works but does not hold a freon charge. All interior and exteriorrubber seals replaced including under the hood and in between the fender and bumper parts. Front and rear suspension completely new with Moog parts

in the front including new coil Springs. Rebuilt steering box. Rear leaf springs are also new. New shocks all around. New brakes all around including new calipers and wheel cylinders.

New bearings throughout the rear differential. New water pump, master cylinder, belts and hoses. New Edelbrock AVS 650 CFM carburetor #1906. New Power steering pump. New water pump. New fuel pump. New HEI distributor and Moroso spark plug wires New Optima Battery Radiator recored with high quality 4 row core New Headman ceramic coated headers New 2.25" exhaust system, with crossover pipe.100% original sheet metal. No rust anywhere. The car is completely original. I think it has 88,000 original miles

on it. Every part I replaced was original. Even the front brake calipers Engine was rebuilt mostly because it needed new valve seals (they were also original) so I decided to just go ahead and rebuild the whole engine.

Engine was in very good running condition before rebuild. Everything that needed to be replaced on the car has been replaced with top quality parts. Original Vinyl top in excellent condition. The car runs absolutely perfectly. Drives tight and sounds great Everything works including all original gauges.
